This weekend at SSC:

The staff at Strathfield Sports Club celebrated the Easter long-weekend by getting together for a ten-pin bowling social event. While the ten-pins were often the winner, this weekend we will again try to bowl you over with all the sport you could ask for if you have some “spare” time!

While we’ve been enjoying rugby league five nights a week in the early rounds of the NRL, this weekend reverts to a more traditional format. The highlight of the round is arguably the double-header on Friday night, which will see the Bulldogs host Manly and the Titans play the Broncos.

Last year’s grand finalists have been below their best this term due to the fact they have been missing a host of regular first-graders. However this will be no excuse when they come up against coach Des Hasler’s former chargers, who have defended their line with aplomb in 2013.

Queensland pride will go on the line in the night’s other match, when the Titans who have succeeded expectations so far this year, hope to maintain their strong form in their battle against the Broncos.

We will also have a huge weekend of football as the A-League enters its final series. Hot after the news they will play European powerhouses Liverpool FC in a pre-season friendly later this year, Melbourne Victory host Perth Glory on Friday night. Both teams have run into form at the right time of year and will be hoping for a bit of brilliance from their marquee men to see them through to the next round.

In the weekend’s other elimination final, Adelaide United will play last year’s premiers Brisbane Roar on Sunday afternoon. Despite being staged in Adelaide, Brisbane will go into this game as favourites and they’re our tip of the week to get the job done against an out-of-sorts Adelaide outfit.

The Wanderers and Mariners both have the weekend off after finishing the regular season in the top-two and will await the winners in next weekend’s fixtures.

On top of this we will have another round of Super 15 Rugby, games from round 2 of the AFL and matches from the English Premier League.

The Waratahs are playing away to the Hurricanes on Saturday afternoon, with the New South Welshmen in desperate need of points to get their season back on track. This will be followed by Greater Western Sydney Giants taking on Port Adelaide, in a game that pits together two sides that struggled last year but performed admirably in their season openers.

Later in the evening Reading will play Southampton in a match that has a huge bearing on the relegation battle. While on Sunday night West Ham will play Liverpool, with both teams coming off strong wins.

Whether your team is local or from abroad, if they’re playing this weekend you can be sure we’ll do our very best to ensure you don’t miss a minute of action at Strathfield Sports Club this weekend!
