This weekend at SSC:

The US Open tees off, the Champions Trophy gets in full swing and the Lions are in town. These are just a few things we’ll have roaring on our screens this weekend. Here’s our weekly scoop as to what’s on that will have you coming back for a double-helping at Strathfield Sports Club!

Friday night football will see St George Illawarra taking on North Queensland in a game that could have huge implications in the coaching ranks. The Cowboys’ Neil Henry is rumoured to be in the last chance saloon, while the Dragons’ Steve Price will be under pressure after choosing to dump star half-back Jamie Soward from first-grade. Manly battle the Bulldogs in the night’s other game in what is sure to be a bruising affair with both sides priding themselves on their defence.

Fast forward to Saturday night and the Waratahs will be out to tame the British and Irish Lions in their tour match in Sydney. The Lions have had it all their own way to date, notching up some comprehensive victories but hopefully the Tahs will be on their game and in the mood to slay our motherland.  With the first Test just around the corner and NSW in good form in the second half of their season we’re predicting some high quality rugby union.

Moving to Sunday and we’ll have our League hat back on with three games back-to-back. The Bunnies will be looking to get the hop on the Titans, the Storm will be hoping to weather the Knights attack and the Roosters will be crowing if they can get down the Warriors.

As mentioned there is loads more happening in the wide world of sport this weekend. The US Open will feature Tiger Woods going after another allusive major as the world’s best golfers compete for one the most coveted trophies in the sport. The Champions Trophy cricket will also be getting towards the business end of the one-day international tournament. There have been some close results and inclement weather to date so hopefully the sun will be smiling on the Aussies.

We’ll also have all the action from the NBA and NHL play-offs to see who will be crowned champions in American basketball and ice hockey. The Heat and Spurs are locked in a tight tussle, while the Bruins will have to comeback in their series after going down in game one against Chicago in double-overtime.

For our Korean nationals there’ll also be the chance to keep up with the local leagues in football and baseball, with our brand new Korean tv channels streaming live across the weekend.

As you can see there’s plenty of sport on to keep you entertained so roll-up, roll-up to SSC as we play ringmaster this weekend!
