It’s guaranteed to be the biggest Sunday of the year this weekend at Strathfield Sports Club, with our Annual General Meeting, Christmas lunch, tennis presentations and raffle headlining the festivities. In what will be an important day to reflect on the achievements of the past year and vote on who will lead us into the future, all our members have been warmly invited to attend and have their voice heard.

The formalities of the day will commence from 11am this Sunday 8 December, where members will have the opportunity to cast their vote for the Board of Directors. Upon arriving at the Club eligible members will be given a ballot paper which they can use to cast their vote for up to seven of ten nominations. Our Facility co-ordinator Steve Crass will be acting in the capacity of Returning Officer and you will need to ensure you have your name marked off the register.

The opportunity to vote will close at 12.15pm at which time we will commence our AGM. SSC Management will deliver a presentation on how the Club has fared over the past 12 months. Prior to this, members are encouraged to read a copy of the 2013 Annual Report, available at the bar, so they can contribute to informed discussion about the direction in which the club is headed. The 2013 Annual Report can also be downloaded from our site: http://www.strathfieldsportsclub.com.au//membership/

Following the AGM and subsequent discussion, which is expected to take approximately an hour, the fun part of the day is set to begin starting with our Christmas Lunch. Members were required to RSVP to this event by last week in order for the Club to cater for numbers. Our lunch has traditionally been the chance for our members to socialise with friends in a relaxed environment and welcome the newer members of SSC – this will again be the case this weekend!

After we’ve digested lunch and all its trimmings we will let it settle by recognising the achievements of our tennis members over the past year. A presentation will be made to our Badge, Club Championship and Inter-district players who have all represented SSC with distinction over the last year.

Next on the schedule we will be announcing the results of the ballot, where our Club community can congratulate those that have been chosen to represent SSC’s interests for the upcoming year.

This will be followed by the moment everyone will no doubt be hanging around for – our Christmas raffle. As always there are a plethora of presents under our tree that will be won so make sure you get your tickets, available at the bar, so you’ve a chance of taking home an early present.

It all promises to be an exciting day but will only be a success with the attendance and contribution of our lifeblood – our members. Every effort has been made to promote what is the most important day of the year for our Club. We would love if you could make the effort to join us, along with family and friends and show why SSC really is the place to be!
