There was great news for the SSC family earlier this month, with A-League club Perth Glory FC announcing they’ve signed Kosta Petratos on a 1.5 year deal.

The talented 17-year-old is part of the Petratos family that runs the club’s Golden Goal facilities and no doubt many would have come across Kosta practicing his skills for hours on end on the fields.

Kosta joins his brother Dimitri, who is at Brisbane Roar, in Australia’s top football flight which will no doubt test the allegiances of Mum and Dad!

The attacking-midfielder has been training with his new teammates for the last fortnight and watched on as they recorded a thumping 6-1 win over the Newcastle Jets last weekend.

Kosta has spent the last two years at the FFA’s Centre of Excellence in Canberra under the tutelage of former Socceroo Tony Vidmar and was thrilled to sign his first professional contract.

“It’s exciting to be in Perth and to land a senior contract,” said Kosta. “I’m keen to show what I’ve got on the field for Kenny, the boys and most importantly the supporters.”

“I’m my own player and I don’t live in the shadow of my brother. We’ve always had a rivalry in the backyard growing up in Sydney and I’m sure if the time comes, that rivalry will shine again.”

Kosta also has experience at international level having represented the Joeys, Australia’s U-17 side, at the 2014 AFC U-16 Championships in Thailand where the team reached the semi-finals.

The club would like wish Kosta all the best with the next stage of his career and we look forward to watching him on the big screen in the clubhouse when he makes his A-League debut!
