Last weekend saw the final of the inaugural edition of our Saturday Singles Teams competition played in glorious sunshine at Strathfield Sports Club.

In what was a hotly contested decider “Team Nadal” led by captain Dennis Chan narrowly defeated “Forehand” 3 sets to 2, to claim the maiden title.

Forehand had topped the standings after our eight week round-robin series but were just shaded on the day. David Rutherford was named the overall percentage singles winner following his strong form throughout the tournament.

The popular format, which saw two players from teams of three compete in singles and doubles each week, will look to make a return in the New Year.

The presentation was celebrated with one of our famous BBQ’s but if you didn’t manage to snag some of the fun make sure you’re down at the club this Sunday when we’ll be holding another Members BBQ following the social hit.

Our Spring Badge teams continue to perform strongly as their seasons edge towards the finals. Multiple divisions are on track to be part of the business end of the season but there’s still plenty of tennis to be played.

If you missed the chance to play this time around or would like to test your game in a competative yet social environment the next competition starts in March next year, with gradings to take place in February. Seek out our Facility Co-ordinator Steve Crass if you’d like more information.

While we’re looking ahead we’d also like to alert members that our Members Christmas Party will be celebrated on Sunday 7th December. It’s hard to believe it’s that time of year already so we hope you’ll join us for one of the most special days in our calendar.
